Blessed Yule, Yuletide, and Winter Solstice! What a cold, rainy one it was here – helping us appreciate the warmth of our fireplace, and the company of one another.
For those of you celebrating Yule, we hope you managed to have some time off this period. And if not, we hope you still had a good weekend!
We had some time off from work over this period, and went on a couple of day trips with our girls, more fully exploring some parts of Tasmania that we hadn’t managed to before. Otherwise, our time off was spent relaxing and recharging, along with opening a few presents.
As winter is well and truly here, we had some thoughts for contemplation during the long trek to spring.
- Winter is an excellent time for introspection. We’ll be looking inwards at this time to see what’s working for us, what isn’t, and what can we change about ourselves to better meet our goals.
- Speaking of goals, this is also a good time to sit down and see what goals we’ve achieved, and set goals for the coming 12 months (until the next Winter Solstice).
- Organising semi-regular get-togethers (where current COVID-19 restrictions allow) for bonding time of the less mainstream variety. For example, instead of movie nights, try something like board game nights, or nights of group divination.
- Take this opportunity to re-connect with old friends. Likewise for any family members where there may have been less connection recently.
- It’s a good time to sit down and plan out the coming year’s crops in any garden space you have. The planning may be for food, medicine, and/or magic uses.
Soon, our time off will be over. On returning to our jobs, we’ll also begin working on the next edition of our newsletter, to be released before the Spring Equinox.
If you haven’t already, consider signing up to help support us. We’ve recently added a new goal, where if we get some more supporters we’ll be releasing the digital version of our newsletter to everyone, instead of only supporters. We have a tier as low as $2 (USD) a month, as every little bit makes a difference. And if you can’t do that, maybe just drop us a line to let us know what you think of our first edition that we’d released – we appreciate every bit of feedback we get.

Much love and blessed be,
The Holly and The Ivy
